Lyrania continued to study her spellbook as she listened intently to the conversation. Normally she would have tuned it out, but she had taken a special interest in the half-human. So the conversation she was overhearing was making her more and more annoyed. When she heard Daesi say that Terrwyn was his daughter, she snapped her spellbook closed in anger. She clearly heard the spine crack in protest.
The sound was loud enough to make Mirasinera snap out of the thoughts that she had been having. Feeling a bit dizzy, she turned to the wizard. "What was that all about," she hissed in surprise.
"Sorry," Lyrania replied somewhat sheepishly, keeping her voice low. "I'm just a bit annoyed. The current events are disturbing at best and what I just heard is..."Her voice trailed off as she couldn't find the right words to accurately express how she was feeling. She turned to the half-human, a look of concern on her face. "Did you hear all of that," she asked softly.

From the other room Daesi heard the distinct sound of the binding breaking on Nia's spell book, and felt the flare of magical anger.
"Oh damn," he said under his breath as he quickly turned himself invisible and snuck quietly out of the tent.
He wandered as far away from the camp as he possibly could with out loosing sight of it, nor the ability to spring into action should danger arise. He finally situated himself on a high branch of a tree, and sat there ruminating on the events of the past day.
"As if things couldn't get any worse." he thought. "Now she'll know for sure. On top of that Nia probably wants my hide...."

The merchant woke up with a yelp as the book snapped, digging his fingernails into the hilt of the blade he was currently lying twined around. "No-" he blurted before gaining awareness of his surroundings and relaxing somewhat, his face reddening.
"What's all this?" he yawned. "Some of us need sleep."

Terrwyn awoke when Nia started to rumageing through her gear. She knew it was for her spell book but Terrwyn got up anyway. As much as she hated to admit it she enjoyed Nia's company immensly and watched carefully for anything that Nia might give her. Also Terrwyn couldn't go back to bed not with Nia up and muttering. She carefully got out of bed wrapping a blanket around herself and went to sit by Nia.
Nia looked at her and than began to cast something. Terrwyn felt the magic, heard the air make a small pop. Then she heard the voices, talking almost as clearly as of she could see the speakers Daesi and The Lord.
Terrwyn sat back on her heels and listened. Her fists balled up when she heard that the conversion was about her, and she felt Nia twitch. Terrwyn absently started to rub her shoulder as she heard Daesi talk about 'her mother'. "Who's mother?", she thought to herself.
Then Terrwyn's blood froze in her veins and she went numb and stiff. She couldn't even feel her burning shoulder. The words she heard were words she never thought she'd hear and had always wished for. Words spoken from a elf she admired and thought of as a friend. 'My Daughter...", Daesi spoke.
Terrwyn looking shell shocked, glanced at Nia who was as white as snow and exasperated too and than Mira who was also shocked. Then Nia's spell ended and she heard Daesi curse than start running. Terrwyn gasped shook herself an than grabbed her clothes and book, and satchel and fled to the woods in bewilderment. for once she was completely speechless.

Terrwyn didn't answer Nia. Instead she ran for the sanctuary of the woods. she ran past the confused gaurds, the sleeping Merric, and castus who was in a dead sleep. She ran till she couldn't run anymore. She sat down heavily on a fallen tree and started crying like a child clutching her bundle to her chest. When the tears stopped she looked around but just decided to stay put realizing that she had never been wanted on the quest in the first place.
Terrwyn sank to her knees on the ground. Now she knew that if she and Nia had not been in the same dungeon she wouldn't have been rescued, in fact she'd probably be dead by now. if he didn't want me involved why didn't he just leave me? I wish i had never left the church than i wouldn't have been captured in the first place. I wouldn't have drow poison in my veins and i would never have met him. or Nia.
Nia and him who i thought the world about and tried to learn from. What is Nia feeling? Daesi....... how can he be my father? i thought my father was dead just like my mum. I have been an orphan all of my life untill Sophia started coming to me. Now what am i going to do? Should i go back and finish this quest or return to the city? Oh Sophia why did you do this to me?

"What's everyone bolting off for? The tent on fire?" the merchant added to his complaint, untangling himself from his bedroll and grabbing for his travel bag, rooting around for a pair of breeches. Whatever had happened was going to take some talking to sort through, seemed like, judging by the looks on the faces of those who hadn't sprinted into the night, and he wasn't about to test his skills with the spoken word while stark naked.
"What's going on, Nia?" he fished as he dressed, "cat got your tongue? -sorry, Mira, no offense. But what's gotten to our lady of plants?"

Lyrania muttered something about fathers and apologized to Merrik. "I need to go after her. She just overheard something that shocked her quite badly and, I am certain, has the wrong impression about it. Now she is out there by herself and could possibly be in danger." As she finished speaking, the elf started to leave the tent. She was stopped by one of the catfolk camped in front of the tent. "If you are going to look for her, take the Lady Mirasinera. She'll be able to help you find the girl faster," he responded to Nia's annoyed look.
The catfolk druid looked over as she heard her name spoken. She got up and walked carefully over to the elf. "Yes, I could help you find her." The two of them walked for a while and found the half-elf beneath a tree. Lyrania crouched down in front of the girl.
"Terrwyn, are you okay. Sorry, bad question. You know, I'm pretty sure you have the wrong impression of things. He loves you. It's obvious by the way he was speaking."
Lyrania paused for a moment to catch her breath, then continued. "If you honestly think that he was just in that dungeon for me, I'm certain you are wrong. He was more likely trying to save you. I was just lucky to have been there and not elsewhere. Terrwyn, you're a great person. Don't let the shock drag you down." Nia knelt beside the girl and wrapped an arm around her. She was still irritated at the rouge, but she wasn't gonna let that get in the way of trying to make the girl feel better.

He stared into the emptied tent for a few moments, mentally piecing the chaos together until he thought he'd figured it out. "Oh, for gods' sakes," he snapped at no one, finishing lacing his breeches with sharp, irritated gestures. "That's what this madness is about? A bed that's like as not nearly two decades cold? You'd think no one had ever fathered a child before."
Nearly tripping over the comatose paladin (who grunted and rolled over) as he exited the tent, Merrik squinted into the night before picking a direction at random. Finding a rogue in the dark wasn't his idea of a good time, much less with eyes that could barely see in the night. But he figured the women would tend to each other...and possibly be hostile to male intrusion at a time like this.
"Alright, rogue, where are you," he grumbled as he hunted, nostrils flaring as though he'd actually be able to catch a scent. "I'm liable to trip over a root and break my ankle in this dark."

Terrwyn fell asleep beneath the tree curled up in a ball for warmth. When she felt an arm curl around her she tensed thinking it was him but than she heard the voice and realized that it was Nia. She felt someone else kneel beside her and looked up to see a cat folk with glowing eyes and pointy ears. Mira.
"I'm fine Nia, i just think i should leave soon, I've only gotten in your way, and that's no help. I'm going back to the Church of Sophia, and I'll probably never be able to see you again....", said Terrwyn trying to get out of the elf's embrace, but finding that she couldn't move.

Daesi was quite content to stay up in his tree so as to avoid the wrath of Nia.
How could I be so stupid he thought. Of course it would have come out eventualy. But what am I gonna say to her? 'I broke your mother's heart, and then left her with child because'... Of what I was?
It was then that he heard Merrik calling out for him. He wasn't about to ignore the merchant. Heaven forbid, the man already thought he was an idiot. He jumped gracefully down from his perch, deftly landing on his feet in front of the other man.
"You must think I'm a fool," he said.

Night-blind as he was, when a figure landed in front of him, Merrik gave a startled cry and threw his hands out, grabbing the elf's shoulders as though in an attempt to hurl him to the ground before he realized who it was, and, just as quickly, released his grip. Standing with his hands spread wide open almost in a gesture of surrender, the merchant exclaimed, "Gods be good; would it have killed you to warn me?!"
He calmed quickly, taking a short step back and scrutinizing the rogue as he chose his words. "Well..." he began at last, frowning deeply. "I can't say as I've made up my mind on that count yet. Though you sure as hell should've let her know before whispering it within earshot, or kept your mouth shut." He shrugged. "But what's done is done."
The merchant folded his arms, contemplating briefly. "You know," he said, "I hate to advise in this situation, as it's none of my business beyond a few hours of lost sleep, but you should speak with her, let her know your reasons. Hells, let her beat you up a little if that's what she needs, I'll deal with trying to keep Nia and that lot from getting involved," he shrugged. "But it's no crime what you've done, know that."
"Gods," he added, muttering, "for that, just be glad that your race only tends to sire one at a time. Imagine trying to explain yourself to five."

Daesi laughed slightly at the merchant's reaction. He was a spy and a thief- and by reputation a good one. He didn't earn the title of "The White Cat" for being loud and clumsy.
"In my line of work we are prided for our stealth. I'm sorry," he said. "Trust me I would have preferred to keep it a secret, but his lordship, well he has his way of figuring things out, and I cannot lie to a person of his capabilities- not even if I tried. Though, I have secrets that are far worse than my dealings with human females twenty odd years ago."
He had to laugh at himself for that.
"But thank you Sir Merrik," he said flashing a a reluctant smile. "I suppose it would be better to tell her instead of running."
After offering a hand in thanks to the bard, he then took off in search of the Lady healer. Using his ability to detect magic he quickly honed in on a bit of divine magic on the periphery of the camp. And also on a distinctly arcane source as well.
Nearing closer to the source, he distinctly saw the two women in the darkness.
Nia, damnit. Lunniea help me that woman probably wants me strung up by my feet- or worse.

Terrwyn was stuck in Nia's protective arms but instead of feeling uncomfortable she felt safe. she snuggled into Nia seeing that she wouldn't be let go anytime soon. That was when she felt Nia and Mira tense. She felt rather than saw the person coming.without turning her head to see who it was Terrwyn said, "Why hello father."

Merrik tailed the rogue closely, and when he spotted the problem, was just about to ask how best to get Nia away when the paladin spotted Daesi.
He bowed his head and sighed. "Nia," he cut in, "will you walk with me a moment?" He stared briefly at the elven woman, hoping she'd take his meaning. This is between them. Whatever it is you have with Daesi...it can wait.

Lyrania glared at Merrik for a few seconds. Why was it that everyone thought she was going to remove Daesi's hide today? "You know, it's not like I was planning on scorching him any time today. That would be rather counter productive, don't you think? Terrwyn, do you want me to stay or go? Because, I wouldn't want you to be uncomfortable. Sorry Merrik, but it is her choice," the elf responded irritably. She was not as upset now that the idiot had decided to come and speak with Terrwyn. Had he continued to try to avoid the lady paladin, she might have been mad enough to do something stupid.
