"As I said before, it wasn't until we crossed into the main continent that we began to encounter them," she answered somewhat evasively. She was a little irritated that he would ask such a question. When the paladin spoke to her she smiled. "It's quite alright, your caution is understandable, even if I don't quite understand the reasoning behind it," she responded.
The four of them laughed outright at the bard's reaction, though Mirasinera kept it to an amused chuckle, turning to glare at the other three. Turning back to the bard she stated, "Your reaction is understood. There are very few of us left."

Few left? he wondered, making a note of it as the paladin left the tent in a stormcloud of annoyance. "Still, there's no excusing my behaviour," the bard apologized, giving the party a sheepish smile and bow, taking their leader's hand. "Please forgive my misstep. If it's any help, I'm generally considered a bit odd, myself. My name is Merrik."

In the meantime Terrwyn fell asleep slumped in her chair, her tea gone cold. It wasn't till she heard conversion outside that she jolted herself awake, also jarring her shoulder in the process. she winced and turned to Nia who she noticed was looking at her with exaspration.
"What is the commotion?", Terrwyn asked as the tent flaps rustled and four strangers came in.

Daesi rolled his eyes at the younger paladin. He couldn't help but think in his head "Silly, Silly, human"
"You crossed the channel from Latau'Soucess, and came all the way over the mountains right through the drow lands. It's a wonder you made it this far," he exclaimed. "What made you leave? Surely even living in the desert amongst the Ar'Quessir is better than here amid the 'simple folk'."

((Post written on PS3, please excuse any mistakes.))
"If you don't mind, I'd much rather not go into the reasoning as to why I am not with the rest of the Falling Leaves tribe. I am Mirasinera. It is very nice to meet you and honestly, it's alright Merrik." She was quite unwilling to delve into her reasoning for leaving as it was a bit selfish, even in her own opinion.
As she spoke her men gathered their weapons. One handed her the staff and bow and stood by her side for a moment. She shooed him away looking rather irritated and slung the bow on her back. The staff she kept clutched in her hands. She leaned on it slightly waiting for whatever response she might get.

"I'll respect your wishes then," Daesi replied, although he was still quite curious as to why these people left their homelands.
"Well isn't this exciting," Lord Baequimitore announced. "I'm sure as interesting as tales of your travels are, you and your companions must be exhausted. Please sleep here with my group tonight."

Hearing that, Merrik lightly reached out and tapped Daesi's arm to get his attention. "A moment?" he mouthed silently.

"Of course," Daesi replied. "Follow me outside."
He then proceeded to the tent entrance and waited on the other side for the merchant.

The merchant made his way outside, glancing back at the tent as he left it behind. "Daily our merry band grows," he mused aloud, "bolstered by what oddments the land has to offer. One wonders if we ourselves might attract unwanted attention, strange party that we are."
He turned his eyes to the elf, hating the darkness after the brightness of the tent. "I had some words with your master," he spoke, getting to the point. "In addition to this blade, I ws granted a token-" the merchant's hand vanished briefly, reappearing with the silver coin held between thumb and forefinger. "I've sworn my continued loyalty upon receiving his word that this symbol would ensure the church's willingness to tend, and even resurrect me, if need be. Not free, of course, but it will be done, without question."
"I figured I may as well make you my confidant in this matter as well. I am not sure how your land views such things."

"That it does," Daesi said with a laugh before taking a look at the coin. "Being a servant to the high priest I have a decent relationship with my church. I will make sure such arrangements can be made in case of an untimely demise. If he has given you this then that means he and our people have confidence in you. Unlike many in this day and age the Quessir are a people of their word."

The merchant eyed the elf for a few moments before tucking the coin safely away again. Confidence? This is not a phrase I often hear. Well...you can tell an honest fool by their readiness to trust, I've said, these lot are not like to play me false.
He hesitated.
Nor should I them. Gods know they've been good. Mayhaps this once I shall hold my vows to the spirit of the law rather than just the letter.
"Well," he said finally, "hopefully it's all sorted sooner than later. I do apologize for making you the sole bearer of my problems." Merrik turned back towards the tent, pausing to stretch and yawn. "Ah well. Time to see what tomorrow brings."

"Yes indeed," Daesi replied following him back into the tent, and taking up his usual post near the entrance to the private area of the tent.
The party retires for the night.
Can I get a listen check from everyone?

((I rolled a 19+2 for Terrwyn. I decided to roll for her because she's at school and I want to get this over with....)
Merrik: you hear some wispering from the next room but decide it's nothing and roll over on your 'horde'.
Castus: is an incredibly sound sleeper.
The ladies: Terrwyn is exhausted but for some reason in the middle of the night you wake up to find Nia awake as well pouring over her spell book. The two of you can just pick up on a whispered, but heated conversation coming from the private side of the tent. You recognize the voices as that of Daesi and his Lordship.
"So the Lady Paladin is the one you were telling me about?" his Lordship asks.
"Yes indeed."
"Then why did you bring her here?"
"Well I only wanted to get the mage involved but the girl is way to compassionate for her own damn good. I got her involved with out even intending to."
"And she got hurt because of it."
"Yes, and I feel responsible."
"You said it yourself that she got herself involved. She is trained as a knight. Perhaps she felt it was her duty to her gods to come."
"I know, I just promised her mother that I wouldn't let anything harm her. The woman didn't believe me, after all I broke her heart with all I've done. She's with the gods, and now I've lead her, no our, daughter astray. I guess this just proves that she should have never trusted a thief."
"Although it might not seem like it, the girl is an adult in her people's eyes. She can make her own decisions. Naive as she is I think this experience could be good for her. And if the mother could just see what kind of person you are now, I think she'd be proud that your the child's father."
"I guess."
"Have you told the girl."
"No."
"Will you?"
"I don't want her to become attached. The last thing I need is something dragging me down."
"I think she already is."
Miranisnera you also hear this conversation, but as it does not pertain to you, you tune it out and focus on the sounds of nature all around you.
