"Heal me later. We need to keep moving," Daesi hissed as he draped his arm over the bard's shoulder. He hoped he wasn't being too rude to her. He was of course the type that liked to nurse his wounds in private, so at least she wouldn't find out all his secrets in the course of one day.
Wincing noticeably as they made their way up the stairs, he wished for this all to be over soon. The stairs were proving to be a rather painful endeavor, but he hadn't wanted to waste both precious time and magic back there being healed out in the open like that. They could never know when the enemy could send reinforcements. Best keep moving and hope they could make it out with no more casualties.
More grunts and hisses of pain later he felt the feel of grass under his feet. It was now early morning outside.
Castus:The parchment parcel contains a small silver ring. Upon inspection you notice an ancient but familiar symbol etched in the band. That of a circle with four radiating lines forming a sun pattern with a star in the center of the circle. The holy symbol of Corrlinn Thallon. Besides the symbol there is little you can tell with out further examination of the ring.

"Don't worry about it," Merrik answered, distracted with trying to keep his feet under himself and not fall down the stairs and likely kill both himself and Daesi. "Another case for solving my little problem," he hissed to the elf, under his breath.
"Ah, morning," he announced as they emerged. "Do you suppose His Grace will be sympathetic and allow us a few hours' rest?"
As the merchant was complaining, Castus ceased his examination of the ring, slipping it onto his finger and reminding himself to ask their host about it once they'd returned to the tent.

"I would think his Lordship would be more than willing to let us rest, given- well..." Daesi's voice trailed off as he dared glance at the wound on his side. His leather armor had taken much of the blow and the bleeding was minimal, but as it was in a tender area it still hurt like hell. "He takes good care of those who work for him."
It is mid morning before you reach camp to find that the King and most of his entourage has departed. Lord Baquimitore, his household and a few royal guards have stayed behind to wait for you.
As you approach his lordship's tent the Lady Solnessona appears and quickly takes Daesi from Merrik and ushers him into the private area. Although Terrwyn is eager to join her father, Solnessona urges her to stay with the others for the time being and says that he will be well taken care of.
After about 10 minutes or so, his Lordship emerges from the back of the tent. He explains that some villagers approached earlier in the day with accounts of undead in the area, and the king and his loyal men rode off to investigate while the rest of the retinue made back to Therfis at his urging. Knowing that you all were still out investigating for yourselves, his lordship decided to wait for you. Looking at Castus, he asks for an account of what happened.

Castus drew himself up and cleared his throat briefly, before beginning in a somber tone, "Our pursuit of the necromancer that the-" he paused, glancing briefly at where the bard still napped, nested in an impressive mound of blankets that he'd somehow come into temporary possession of, and his mouth twitched in a frown, "-Merrik claimed to have seen led us to ground."
"There is a certain catacomb not far from here, and we followed the trail into its depths. Once down there, the party was quickly split by twos, it appears."
"I cannot speak fully for the others, but this division seems to have been, in part, illusory. As for myself, I witnessed some manner of polytheistic temple. I know not if it was real or not, but I feel confident in attributing my safe return to the good providence of the gods, who gave to me their sign-"
Here, he pulled off the ring and offered it forward.
"We are most blessed."
"Shortly thereafter, I was reunited with Daesi, and Terrwyn, and the bard. They were confronting the necromancer, who chose to flee rather than face the gods' justice."
"We returned to the surface, and to the camp. No sign was found of the druid, or of Lyrania. Gods will they are safe."

Terrwyn stood at attention before Lord Baquimitore.... waiting patiently till the events of the day had been told. her shoulders were stiff and she wondered if it was possible to fall asleep standing up. Also what was wrong with Merrik and Castus and if the both of them had something against her.

"Thank you Sir Castus. I will pass this news on to his Majesty's guards. This is most certainly a dreadful development. However I am now certain that given this mornings events with the villagers and the undead, the nobles now have the proof they need in order to mobilize the army to neutralize this situation before it can spread. I will be looking to you all though to help discover the source of this all, for I fear that the Nameless Ones already have a hold on Therfis City's underground," Lord Baquimitore said in response.
Approaching Castus he took up the ring into his hand. "Give me an hour to analyze this, and I will let you know of it's properties. This is a welcome sign indeed," he said before turning back to face everyone. "I promised his Majesty that we'd wait for him here. He intends to spend the night in the village and then return. You may do as you wish."
Making his leave, he lastly turns to Terrwyn. "Your father is doing fine. He's in pain but he'll make it through. You can come visit him if you would like."

Ignoring Merrik's snores, the paladin gave a grave nod. "I thank you, my lord."
He hesitated, the option of sleep vying for his attention. His shoulders sagged slightly, then he seemed to rally, and draw himself up again.
"I intend to venture out again in search of any sign of the missing women. If there is anything else you would have me do...?"

"If that is what you think best to do then by all means take a few of the King's guards with you." His Lordship replies.

Terrwyn hurried to Daesi's side and began applying the poultice she had began making... this time Daesi didn't protest and she thanked the gods. she placed a kiss on his brow than took her leave of the tent so that she could go cleanup- hopefully by bathing in the stream in the woods- and then mediatate on her current situation. She grabbed clean clothes, a dress this time, and toiletries and slipped away to the stream.
She glanced around than quicl;y deposited her items and stripped down to her breast band and loinclothe. She unbraided her hair and began the tricky task of brushing her mane out. When it was brushed to her satisfaction she slipped into the bend of the stream where the sunlight warmed the water on top of a sandy shelf. The shelf allowed her to sit and relax and not worry about the current dragging her along the rocky stream bed.
Terrwyn closed her eyes breathing deeply and pictured her soul tree. A beautiful silver birch that was her essence, the core of her magic. she looked at and noticed that the tree was beginning to bud... it had never done so before. it had always been dormant and in its wintery state, but all of asudden it was spring. Terrwyn realized that her soul was beginning to heal.

Castus made a deep bow, pressing a fist to the holy symbol that pinned his cloak. He straightened up again, then, seemingly as an afterthought, added, "I expect it may take some time to find a suitable guard who is not already applied to some work or other - I will stop by and see how it fares with you before I depart."
With that, he turned and left the tent, stepping carelessly over Merrik as he went.
The bard snorted and rolled over, pulling the blankets over his head and burrowing deeper with an indistinguishable mutter.

A bit drowsy after drinking a few doses of Lady Solnessona's herbal tea for the pain, Daesi watched his daughter leave. He had thought to send her out after she entered, but as she was probably sent by his master to check up on him, he could hardly protest- nor did he have the strength to.
"She means well," Solnessona said softly. "You can hardly blame her though. A week ago you were a stranger to her. And now suddenly she finds out that you've been hiding the fact your her father. I know you have your secrets, but maybe it's time you let someone else in. Otherwise she'll just find out when it's least convenient for you."
"Not yet," was all he could say.
Castus:After some searching you find two guards who are a bit sore after being left behind by their comrades for what they consider 'babysitting duty.' They gladly accept your invitation to search for your missing party members and you begin to fill them in on what happened. Before leaving you enter the tent again and proceed to his Lordship's private area.
Lord Baquimitore is situated on a cot draped in a rather lavish assortment of blankets and pillows. Before him is a shallow water bowl on a small table.
"Just a bit longer," he says.
You look about you and off to the side you can see her Ladyship tending to your wounded comrade laying on a separate cot. He is sleeping, but otherwise nothing else appears to be amiss.
"Come look," his Lordship finaly says, ushering you towards the bowl.
On the surface of the rippling water you can make out what appears to be a sandstorm. A few seconds later a group of three figures emerges, appearing to be an adventuring party much like yours. However all three of them appear to be elves. As the vission continues, you see this party exploring some ancient ruins in the middle of a desert. You watch as they discover a ring similar to that which you found, and also a worn book bearing the same holy symbol as the ring.
"What is it that you see?" he asks.

Castus squinted into the water, trying to focus on the scene - he had little experience with scrying, but he soon saw it.
"Elves," he answered, "a trio. They are in the desert, and appear to have discovered some relics of Corlinn Thalon, and this same ring...or it's twin. "
He looked away from the pool, and at the elf. "Is it a sign? Something yet to happen, or that already has? Or...?" He squinted at the pool again. "Something about that desert..."

"If this hasn't happened yet it will happen soon. These men do not know it yet, but they are on the same quest as you are. The power of Corlinn Thallon was split two ways, one half residing in a human, the other in an elf. As I knew it would be the most difficult, I figured I'd send you all out looking for the human half. It appears as if fate has stepped in and has another group looking for the other half. And I suppose fate also handed you this," he replied handing the ring back to Castus. "It is a ring of communication, meant to pass along messages over long distances to it's mate. You can use this to track the progress of the others and even talk with them. By scrying with the ring I was able to locate this other party in the Westersands of Lateu’Suoress- the elven homeland."

Terrwyn woke up. "i must have dosed off." she thought to herself. she got out dried off and dressesd than headed back into camp in time to see Merrik diappear into the lords tent. "what are they up to now?" terrwyn wondered to herself as she grabbed something to eat.

"I know of the place; I dwelt in that region near a decade ago," the paladin mused, putting the ring back on. "Then, I will do what I can - I am honored to have any role at all in such a monumental time in history, not just for my sect, but for the world."
He rose. "But I should depart, and find the others. I will be back, with or without them, by nightfall. I thank you for your time."
