Character Name: Lyrania Naïlo
Nickname: Nia
Race: Elf
Age: 117 years
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Bi
Patron Goddess: This is not information that Nia gives at will.
Gift: Elemental Magic
Nia uses an array of arcane magic. Her spells consist mostly of offensive spells meant to allow her to deal out a fair (or better) amount of punishment to her foes in battle. She also has a few spells that can augment her friends’ abilities.
Weapons: A rosewood quarterstaff with an amethyst set in the top. Nothing really special, just an implement to better channel her spells through. She also has a rosewood longbow that she sometimes uses in a pinch if she runs out of spells. Her spellbook and an extra one in case she finds a spell that she would like to write down for later transcribing in her own spellbook. Both are leather bound with a blue rose and elvish script on the binding and front cover. Her main spellbook also has an intricate lock on the front that nearly blends right into the rose. She also has a few wands charged with her favorite spells.
Favorite Spells:
Magic Missile: A wizard's favorite spell. (I wonder why...)
Fireball: Because some spells just need to be able to take out an entire room full of enemies. (And annoy the fighter, just a little.)
Haste: Extra attacks are good...
Spectral Hand: No longer just used for touch spells.
Occupation/Class: Wizard, and don’t get her confused with sorcerers. That’s almost as bad as calling her human... She gets her power from intensive training and education in the art of arcane magic, not just because it was in her bloodline.
Appearance: Lyrania is short, even in elven standards. She stands at about four foot nine and a half inches and is very slim. Her fair skin is tinted very lightly with a pale shade of grey which brings out the different colors of purple in her eyes. Nia’s eyes are slightly peculiar, they are purple, but it isn’t one shade of purple. They usually look light violet unless you look closer though. Her hair is pale golden in color and falls just below her shoulders. It hasn’t ever been cut (other then a trim), it just refuses to grow any longer, despite her attempts to get it to with both magical and more mundane ways. She keeps her hair down as she can’t get it to cooperate with her.
Nia nearly always wears a dress or tunic/skirt combo with a deep purple robe. She tends to wear long flowy skirts, the more extravagant the better, underneath her robe. Her shirts are usually fairly simple with a quiet flair to them. A sash is usually tied at her waist and hanging off it, but not low enough or flimsy enough to be stolen, are three pouches. She stores her spell components (and spare change) in these. There is also a separate case like thing where she stores her wands tied to the sash. The colors she is most likely to wear are red, blue, and purple as they all work well with her complexion, eyes, and hair. Three bracelets hang off of her wrist, one is gold, the other two are copper and silver. A couple of small charms hang off of each one of these, making her jingle slightly as she walks.
Personality: On first meeting Lyrania she comes off as distant and slightly irritable. Likely it is not actually at you though. It could be anything. As it is, that is just her way of shielding herself from the world. Because she has found that the world can be a very cruel place. If only she could do something to fix that...
She is quite paranoid. Often feeling as if something is there, or watching her, even if there is nothing there. Most likely this is simply from being perpetually on the run. Being followed tends to do that to you.
Nia is truly a kind person though. She does not like to see anyone in pain, though she like anyone else does have her exceptions. Things that should not exist and enemies to her kind are one of those exceptions. As for such things, she does not and cannot tolerate Drow, unless they prove that they are not the same as the rest of their species. Undead are also something she cannot tolerate. The dead should just stay dead unless they are brought fully to life. In her mind undead shouldn't even exist. On the other hand, she is fairly tolerant of were's. They, at least are somewhat their race still most of the time.
An intellectual at heart, Nia loves to read and can often be found with her head in a book, which is quite often her spellbook. Many a time, this has caused her not to reply when someone comes up to her. She can sometimes be a bit airheaded and spacey, but don't let it fool you. The elf is almost always paying some semblance of attention to what is going on.
Planning has never really been a strong point for Nia. Most times her plans end with someone being in the center of a blast of arcane magic or her being in jail. It has happened more then once. Her beliefs and her magic mean everything to her. If either are challenged she is likely to defend them with every ounce of her being.
History: Lyrania is not very proud of her history. She spent her first forty years as an only child, but when her first sibling was born and began immediately exhibiting the magic ability that ran through the family, she ran away from home. Nia was only forty three then. From then on, she spent her time roaming the lands looking for something to occupy herself with. During her travels she found that she also had the tendencies that her little brother had, just not nearly as strong. She hated it. Often times as she was traveling she couldn't control it and so she took to learning the fundamentals the way a wizard would. This, she found, was the only way she could control herself.
The years went by with her constantly traveling and learning as much as she could. Eventually she grew tired of her homeland and moved on. A mistake on her part, to be sure. Not long after she arrived on the mainland she was captured by what she would soon realize were slave traders. She was quickly sold, for her complexion and her features made her look very much like an elf of high rank. Her attitude did little to make them think any different.
Eventually she found her way out of her predicament, one she had put herself in, and continued her studies unhampered by the idiot humans. Now she has found herself in company that she can actually enjoy.
